Facebook argument spills over into real life, with deadly results

Dutch teenagers sentenced in “Facebook murder”, Reuters, November 12, 2012

A troubling piece about how Facebook can be used as a vehicle for murder.

Though the article does not flesh out many of the details, we are left with an old story: two teens, both females, grow vicious verbally with each other. They hurl insults, convey their hate. Only they do it all in the confines of Facebook, presumably their Facebook friends serving as audience.

One girl, a 14 year-old, is is furious at the other that she hires someone, perhaps through Facebook, to kill the other girl. Sadly, unlike a video game featuring zombies or aliens, the murder is committed not on Facebook, but in real life.
